Dubai, UAE — A striking first look at what will become the world’s tallest metro station was revealed at the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) 2026, capturing attention with its scale, ambition, and architectural elegance.
Dubbed the ‘Iconic Station’, the landmark transit hub will rise 74 metres high along the upcoming Dubai Metro Blue Line in Dubai Creek Harbour. Officially named the Emaar Properties Station, the project is being delivered by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and is set to redefine urban mobility and metro station design globally.
Spanning 11,000 square metres, the station is designed to accommodate up to 160,000 passengers per day, serving as a major connector between key residential, educational, and commercial districts across the city. Once completed, it will link areas such as Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, and Dubai International City, while offering seamless connectivity to Downtown Dubai, DIFC, Dubai International Airport, and direct interchanges with the Red and Green Metro Lines.
The station’s bold architectural vision comes from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM)—the renowned firm behind the Burj Khalifa. Inspired by a “crossing gateway” concept, the design features expansive interiors finished with limestone, bronze-toned metal panels, and granite flooring. Large glass façades will flood the station with natural light, creating a bright and welcoming environment across both concourse and platform levels.
Beyond transportation, the Iconic Station is conceived as a community-oriented space. The ground floor will include generous seating areas where residents and visitors can gather before heading to the platforms via elevators and escalators. The surrounding precinct will be a green, pedestrian-friendly zone, integrating landscaped areas, trees, restaurants, and retail offerings.
Supporting Dubai’s last-mile mobility strategy, the station will connect seamlessly with buses, taxis, and include dedicated bicycle parking. A prominent solar panel grid featured in the scale model hints at sustainability ambitions, although it has not yet been confirmed whether the station will be fully solar-powered.
Scheduled for completion in 2029, the Emaar Properties Station comes with exclusive naming rights for 10 years. Officials expect the project to significantly boost public transport usage, enhance walkability, and positively influence surrounding property values.
The scale model showcased at DIPMF 2026 offered a compelling preview of a future landmark—underscoring Dubai’s continued commitment to architectural excellence, innovation, and world-class urban infrastructure.
